Kelly Charveaux
Kelly's fascination with gems and precious metal began at an early age. She was born in Faith, South Dakota, near the famous mineral rich Black Hills region and adjoining Sioux Indian lands. Her early collection of rocks and arrowheads evolved into a lifelong love of gems and jewelry. She moved to Arizona in her early teens and immediately started collecting turquoise. While working for a jewelry manufacturer, she left college to study at the Gemological Institute of America. She furthered her education at the renowned Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco.
She married Mike, who is a third-generation jeweler. "He taught me many fundamentals of jewelry making and the art of 'lost wax.' And besides, he's cute," she laughingly recalls. Together they have traveled many places, including Thailand, China, Japan, Mexico, and have hiked to the famous Arizona Four Peaks amethyst mine that is visible from their own back yard.
Inspired by virtually any surroundings, her jewelry is usually created in the "moment." "Design is everywhere," she states. Kelly Charveaux's unique designs along with obsessive attention to quality and detail have led to feature highlights in Bead & Button Magazine, Oprah's O Magazine, and Ornament Magazine. Whether from an exotic travel or just a nature walk, she always returns fully charged and inspired for the next creation.
